K Style Gutter Facts To Know When Purchasing

  • When planning your K Style gutter system remember that for every 100 square feet of roof being drained, your gutter system will need 1 square inch of outlet/drop space per downspout.

  • The standard size downspout typically use with 5" K Style gutter in the U.S. is 2x3 and will drain up to 186 gallons a minute

  • Commercial size downspout typically used with 5" or 6" K Style gutter is 3x4 and will drain up to 434 gallons per minute

  • Standard 5" K Style gutter can use either 2x3,  3x4 or 3" round downpipe

  • 6" K Style gutter uses 3x4 downspout

  • The best way to increase gutter
capacity is to add more downspouts

  • Increasing the size of downspout or number of downspouts is an excellent recommendation for wide roof areas, heavy downpour areas, and for gutter systems that overflow.

  • Most residential gutters should be pitched 1/4" drop every 10 feet towards the downspout. Always check fascia or eaves for levelness.  When hanging gutter, drop a little water into it to make sure water flows in the proper direction.

  • Gutter hanger spacing should be every 24"
